The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco announced on Friday, July 31, 2020 that the 2019 Quota Alcoholic Beverage License Lottery will be publicly held on August 7, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. This year, there are 51 licenses up for grabs in the following counties: Bay, Brevard, Broward (3), Charlotte, Collier, Dade (6), Duval (3), Escambia, Flagler, Hillsborough (4), Indian River, Lake (2), Lee (2), Leon, Manatee, Orange (5), Osceola (2), Palm Beach (3), Pasco (2), Pinellas, Polk (3), St. Johns, St. Lucie, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, Seminole and Volusia.

The physical location of the drawing will be the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco, Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Capital Commerce Center, Building C, Room 107, 2601 Blair Stone Road, Tallahassee, FL 32399. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, this location will remain closed to the public and the drawing will be available to stream online. The attendance of the drawing will be limited to the first 3,000 registered individuals. Interested parties may register to view the meeting by clicking the following link: http://www.myfloridalicense.com/DBPR/alcoholic-beverages-and-tobacco/quota-license-information/.

The drawing will be conducted by double random selection to determine the order in which entrants will be considered for issuance of a quota alcoholic beverage license in one of the above 27 counties. Lottery winners still must qualify to hold an alcoholic beverage license in the State of Florida. Following the drawing on August 7th, the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco will provide notice of license eligibility by certified mail to the address filed with the winner’s lottery application.

With nearly 24,000 applicants this lottery season, and the delay in drawing, everyone is anxiously awaiting the results. However, winning a license is just the first step in this journey. Once an individual has been selected as a winner, they must have their fingerprints taken, undergo a background check, and last but certainly not least, pay the Hughes Act Fee in the amount of $10,500.00.
